Madison is the capital of the state of Wisconsin. Located next to five lakes, it is the second-most populous city in the state. In addition to holding the state's government it is also the home of Wisconsin's largest employer, the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The city is also distinct for its abundant parks and green space. It has the most parks and playgrounds per capita of any of the top 100 U.S. cities by population. 200 miles of biking and hiking trails connect Madison to surrounding towns.

Madison prides itself on being a progressive and sustainable city, and is ranked in the top-five greenest cities in the country. Aside from the university, brands such as Lands' End, American Girl, and Epic Systems are headquartered there. The city also has a strong presence in the credit and insurance sectors.
